After falling to Quinnipiac in the Nutmeg Classic Final, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team will play its final two games of 2014 this weekend when they host Cornell and Colgate at Cheel Arena for two ECAC Hockey games. The Golde Knights host the Big Red and 7:00 p.m. on Friday followed by the game against the Raiders on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Guided by seventh-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and first-year assistant coaches Meghan Duggan and Britni Smith, the Golden Knights have an overall record of 11-5-1 and are 5-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play which puts them in second in the conference to go along with their sixth-ranking in the two national polls. Last weekend, the Green and Gold defeated host UCONN in the first round of the Nutmeg Classic, winning 2-1 in overtime. In the final, they met conference foe Quinnipiac, but fell 3-1 to finish the tournament in second place.

Junior captain Shannon MacAulay (Mt. Herbert, PEI) continued her torrid offensive pace, scoring both goals against UCONN. She now has 14 goals, four of which are game-winners, and 11 assists to give her 25 points on the year. She has at least a point in 12 out of the 17 games Clarkson has played this season and in 10 of the 11 games the Golden Knights have won. She has already eclipsed her career high for goals in a season and her next assist will give her a new career high in helpers as well.

Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for the second consecutive month. Tiley played every minute in the Clarkson goal during the month, backstopping the nationally-ranked Golden Knights to a 4-2-1 record. She posted 24 saves in 3-0 shutout of Dartmouth (Nov. 15) for her fourth career whitewash. The rookie allowed only two goals-or-fewer in each game during the month, including posting a career-high 32 saves in one-goal win (2-1) at Yale (Nov. 1). She was twice named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 2, Nov. 18) and finished the month with a 1.27 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage.

Since starting the season with just two points in the first 14 games, freshman Amanda Titus (Stittsville, ONT) has three points in her last three games. She picked up a goal and an assist in the 3-2 win at Princeton and picked up the lone goal for Clarkson in their 3-1 loss against Quinnipiac on Saturday. She now has five points (3-2) this season.

Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) and sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE) tallied one assist apiece against UCONN. The pair now have 11 assists each, which places them in a three-way tie with MacAulay for the team lead. Both Mercer and Bannon also have scored eight goals this season, and the two are tied for second place on the team in goals and in points with 19 each.

Junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) had an assist against the Huskies on Friday which brings her to eight (2-6) points this season. She is closing in on becoming the ninth member of the Clarkson 100-point club, with her career total standing at 94 points.

Freshmen Brielle Bellerive (North Vancouver, BC) and Katelyn Fournier (Ottawa, ONT) had assists against Quinnipiac on Saturday. Bellerive now has six (1-5) points while Fournier has three assists this season.

Clarkson will hope to score first this weekend. They are a perfect 9-0-0 when getting on the scoreboard first. They have been especially dominant in the third period with a perfect 7-0-0 when they take a lead into the final frame and a 3-1-0 when they are tied after the second. The Golden Knights have outscored teams 22-5 in the third period this season.

Cornell comes into the weekend with a 4-6-1 overall record and a 3-2-0 record in ECAC Hockey play which places them in fifth place in the conference. They tied Mercyhurst 1-1 on Monday night and then beat Syracuse 6-2 on Tuesday. The last time the Big Red traveled to Potsdam, it was for the 2013-14 ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship game and Cornell was able to pull out a 1-0 defeat over Clarkson. Overall, Clarkson holds a 12-10-2 record against the Big Red.

Colgate comes into the weekend with a 3-11 overall record and is 1-4 in ECAC Hockey play which places them in a tie for eighth place. Last weekend they were swept in two games at eighth ranked Mercyhurst. Clarkson has won three straight matchups between the two teams, with the last game on January 24 finishing in a 5-2 Golden Knights' win. In 22 meetings, the Golden Knights have won 11 times, with the Raiders picking up seven wins, and four games finishing in a tie.
