Current Clarkson University Women's Hockey standouts Shea Tiley and Josiane Pozzebon, along with Golden Knight alumnus Erica Howe '14 have been selected to Canada's National Women's Development Team.
The Clarkson trio are among 23 players named to the selection team that will compete in a three-game series against the United States in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre from Aug. 17-21. Canada's National Women's Development Team was named following a selection camp at the Hockey Canada National Teams' Summer Showcase.
The development team will open its series against the United States on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.
Following the series, Hockey Canada scouts, along with the team's coaching staff, will continue to evaluate players with their club teams during the 2016-17 season, in preparation for selecting the Canadian team that will compete at the 2017 Nations Cup in Germany next January, as well as for possible invites to camps and events with Canada's National Women's Team.
Clarkson's starting goaltender the past two seasons, Tiley enters her junior campaign for the Golden Knights this fall. A defenseman, Pozzebon begins her sophomore season for the Green and Gold in 2016-17. Clarkson's all-time winningest goaltender, Howe (2010-14) backstopped the Knights to the 2014 NCAA National Title.
