The Clarkson University Women's Hockey team got goals from three different players to win its first game of 2015, a 3-1 ECAC Hockey victory on the road over Colgate at Starr Rink in Hamilton, NY on Friday night.

Junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) notched an assist, leaving her just one point shy of 100 for her career.

Clarkson now holds an overall record of 13-6-1 overall and is 7-2-1 in ECAC Hockey play, placing them 3rd in the conference.

The Golden Knights opened the scoring at 17:55 when junior captain Shannon MacAulay (Mt Herbert, PEI) scored a power-play goal, her team-leading 15th goal of the season. Ambrose was credited with an assist on the goal along with junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT). Clarkson would take that 1-0 lead into the second period.

Colgate would get on the scoreboard 3:36 into the second period with Perry Shelby scoring a power-play goal of her own. Six minutes later, junior assistant captain Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK) scored to regain the lead for Clarkson, with freshman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) getting an assist. Howe's goal is her sixth of the season, with four of them coming in Clarkson wins, 19 of her 21 career goals have been in victories.

Clarkson would hold its slim lead through the rest of the second period and through the first 18 minutes and 41 seconds of the third period until senior Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) scored an empty-net goal to ice the game for Clarkson.

The Green and Gold held a staggering 39-12 lead in shots with freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) making 11 saves and her Raiders counterpart Ashlynne Rando making 36. The two teams combined for 18 penalties totaling 52 penalty minutes and both went one for four on man-advantage opportunities.

Clarkson will travel to Cornell for a 4:00 pm game tomorrow while Colgate will host St. Lawrence at the same time.
