ECAC Hockey's leading scorer, junior Loren Gabel (Kitchener, ONT) enjoyed a four-point night and scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner, to help lift the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team to its 11th straight victory with a big 4-3 triumph over conference rival Cornell at Lynah Rink in Ithaca.

The #3-ranked Golden Knights own a 22-3-1 overall record and are tied for first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 13-2 league mark. Clarkson will take the nation's current longest winning streak to Hamilton, NY on Saturday afternoon for a showdown with conference co-leader Colgate.

Gabel scored her second of the night at Cornell just 22 seconds into the extra session, finishing off an assist from the league's second-leading point producer, freshman sensation Elizabeth Giguere (Quebec City, QUE). Gabel has 51 points on the year, including 23 goals, while Giguere has 49 points and leads the conference in assists with 31.

Clarkson and Cornell (12-7-2, 9-5-1) skated to a 2-2 tie through 40 minutes and went scoreless in the third period.

The Big Red scored first. Shortly after killing off a Clarkson power play, Cornell made the most of its first man-advantage opportunity of the night with a power-play goal from Madlynne Mills at 5:25.

Gabel tied it up at 11:41 of the opening period. Stationed at the top of the crease, Gabel tipped in a centering pass from junior Cassidy Vinkle (Belleville, ONT) for her 22nd goal of the season.

With 2:11 remaining in the period, Clarkson took the lead with a goal by sophomore defenseman Ella Shelton (Ingersoll, ONT) for her second tally of the year with Gabel and Giguere assisting.

Cornell outscored the Green and Gold 2-1 in the middle frame to make it a tie game through 40 minutes. Kristen O'Neill converted on the power play at 7:16. After Clarkson's sophomore center Michaela Pejzlova (Pardubice, Czech Rep.) put the Knights back on top 3-2 at 13:08, Cornell came right back. The Big Red's Willow Slobodzian scored the home team's third goal at 14:22.

Clarkson outshot Cornell 25-19. Senior Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) posted 16 saves.
