Five different players scored as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team defeated Brown 5-1 to win its opening ECAC Hockey road game of the season.

Clarkson now holds a record of 7-3 and is 2-0 in ECAC Hockey play.

"We did a great job getting out to a quick start tonight, putting the momentum in our favor right from the opening face off," stated Clarkson head coach Matt Desrosiers. "That is something we have been doing a very good job of these last few games and has helped with our success. Tomorrow will be a good test for us on the road against a solid Yale team. We are definitely going to have to be prepared to play our game and work hard in order to gain two points."

After scoring a hat trick against St. Lawrence on Tuesday, junior captain Shannon MacAuley (Mt. Herbert, PEI) opened the scoring on Friday just 1:54 into the first period off a pass from freshman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL). Less than two minutes later, freshman Brielle Bellerive (North Vancouver, BC) scored her first career goal to double the Golden Knights' lead. At 13:12, ECAC Hockey's Rookie of the Week, Harmon scored a goal off an assist from ECAC Olayer of the Week, sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE). Clarkson would finish the opening period with a flourish when senior Daniela Matteucci (Fruitvale, BC) scored a power play goal to give the Green and Gold a 4-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Brown was able to get on the scoreboard when they scored a power play goal at 11:01 in the second period to make it 4-1 after two.

Just 1:07 into the third period, Clarkson would regain its four-goal lead when junior Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK) scored. Senior Jennifer Shields (Ingersoll, ONT) and sophomore Corie Jacobson (Warren, ONT) were credited with assists on the play.

Clarkson have not lost in its last 18 ECAC Hockey regular season games, with the team amassing 15 wins and three ties in that span. They are also on a 15-game (13-0-2) unbeaten streak against the Bears.

Clarkson held a 41-19 advantage in shots. They were 1-3 on the power play while Brown was 1-2 in man-advantage situations. Freshman goalie Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) had 18 saves in the game.
