The defending National Champions hit on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, defeating archival St. Lawrence University 6-1 before a Cheel Arena record crowd of 2,679 North Country fans on the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team's 2017 NCAA National Championship Banner Raising Day.

Five different Golden Knights' scored in Clarkson's most productive outing of the season as the Green and Gold improved their record to 7-0-1 and stretch their unbeaten streak to 24 games (22-0-2) dating back to January 20. Clarkson also defeated sixth-ranked St. Lawrence (2-2-2) 4-2 on Friday in Canton.

Sophomore Michaela Pejzlova (Pardubice, Czech Rep.) and freshman sensation Elizabeth Giguere (Quebec City, QUE) led the way offensively. Pejzlova scored two goals and one assist, while Giguere tallied one goal and four assists. Giguere has recorded at least one point in each of her first eight games and leads Clarkson with 14 point on seven goals and seven assists in the young season.

Clarkson excelled on specialty teams going 4-of-7 on the power play and killing off all seven of the Saints' man-advantage chances, including a couple of lengthy 5-on-3 opportunities by the visitors.

For only the second time this season, the Knights did not open the scoring as the Saints' Kennedy Marchment tallied at the four-minute mark, firing in a shot from the bottom of the left circle.

From then on it was all Green and Gold.

Clarkson started the roll 1:18 after the Saints' goal when junior Loren Gabel (Kitchener, ONT) took a pass across the slot from Giguere and scored her fifth of the season on a shot from the left wing.

The Knights grabbed a 2-1 lead late in the opening period with the first goal of the season by sophomore defenseman Ella Shelton (Ingersol, ONT). Shelton finished of assists from blueline partner, senior captain Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) and Giguere on a shot from the top of the right circle for a power-play marker at 17:24.

At 11:32 of the middle frame, junior Kelly Mariani (Mississauga, ONT) took a pass, kicked back by classmate Cassidy Vinkle (Belleville, ONT) and fired in a shot from the slot for her second goal of the season. Junior defenseman Josiane Pozzebon (Bourget, ONT) started the scoring play with a rush up ice.

Clarkson struck again early in the third to build its lead to 4-1. Pejzlova finished off a pass out of the corner by Giguere on a one-timer at 3:23 for her third goal of the year.

With a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:58, the Green and Gold made it 5-1. Giguere completed a nice passing combination in front by linemates Pejzlova and Gabel.

Just nine second into another power-play opportunity, Clarkson made it 6-1 when Pejzlova collected her second of the game, redirecting a shot from the point by Shelton. Harmon also set up the play for her second assist of the day.

Senior Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) posted 23 saves as Clarkson outshot St. Lawrence 30-24.

Clarkson opens defense of its ECAC Hockey conference title when it begins league play next weekend hosting Colgate and Cornell at Cheel.
