Nine different skaters recorded at least a point as the eighth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team remained undefeated in 2015 with a 4-0 victory over Union College in Cheel Arena on Friday night.

The Golden Knights are now 14-6-2 overall and 8-2-2 in ECAC Hockey play. The Dutchwomen fall to 4-16-3, 1-10-0.

"We can definitely take a lot of positives from tonight's game," stated Clarkson head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "We had a lot of people contribute to tonight's win which is what we will need moving forward. I also thought we did a great job protecting the puck and moving our feet down low in the offensive zone that helped generate some chances for us. I thought we got a little sloppy in the second period managing the puck through the neutral zone and turned it over a few too many times but regrouped in the third period and did a much better job in that area. Very happy with the overall effort and glad to see some others chipping in with some points. We didn't give up too many scoring chances but with the ones we did Shea (Tiley) was there to make some nice saves. I like the way we are playing right now so we need to make sure we are continuing along this same path and getting better every game."

Clarkson wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Sophomore Jessica Gillham (Uxbridge, ONT) tipped in a shot from senior Daniella Matteucci (Fruitvale, BC) 2:30 into the first period. The second goal of the season for Gillham and the fifth assist of the season for Matteucci represented new career highs for the two players. Freshman Lauren Lefler (Windsor, ONT) also had an assist on the goal.

Clarkson would double its lead at 14:45. During a Golden Knights' power play, junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) found her classmate Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) on the back post for a tap-in. Ambrose's fellow junior assistant captain Renata Fast (Burlington, ONT) had the second assist on the goal. Clarkson has now scored a power-play goal in four straight games

With 13 seconds left to play in the second period, Clarkson would add a third goal. Ambrose ripped a shot from the top and the rebound fell to the stick of freshman Amanda Titus (Stitsville, ONT) who knocked the puck in for her fourth goal of the season. Junior assistant captain Olivia Howe (Moose Jaw, SASK) was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Clarkson would tag on a fourth goal at 4:24 in the final period. Titus won the puck behind the net and passed to classmate Brielle Bellerive (N. Vancouver, BC) in the slot and her backhand shot found the back of the net. Howe had her second assist of the night on the goal. It was the second goal of the season for Bellerive.

Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) had 23 saves to complete her fifth shutout of the season. Clarkson had a 39-23 advantage in shots and went 1-2 on man-advantage opportunities while killing the lone Union power play.

Clarkson will host Rensselaer tomorrow for a 4:00 pm game in Cheel Arena.
