Troy, NY - An extended run at the end of the second half changed the complexion of Saturday's contest between the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team and host Rensselaer, as the Golden Knights ran into a cold streak in the final 7:39, falling 73-40 against the Engineers.

The Golden Knights dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League, while Rensselaer moved to 6-7 and 2-0. Clarkson looks to get back on the winning track when it hosts Skidmore and Union next weekend.

Clarkson jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes of Saturday's contest, but the Engineers quickly recovered and took the lead three minutes later. From there, the two teams traded baskets and the Knights had a slim one-point advantage at the 10:10 mark, but Rensselaer went on an 11-0 run to take a double-digit lead.

In the second half, both Rensselaer and Clarkson struggled offensively to start, yet the Knights were down by just 14 with under 10 minutes to go. However, the Engineers found their shooting stroke, while Clarkson couldn't end its rut. Rensselaer finished the game on a 22-3 run over the final 7:39 of the game.

Overall, Clarkson shot 15-for-51 from the floor, but the Knights struggled in the second half, going 3-for-23 from the floor and just 1-for-11 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Junior forward Chrissy Scanlon (Queensbury, NY) led the Knights with 14 points and six rebounds in the game. For Rensselaer, Sarah Wetmore had 23 points, shooting 9-for-17 from the field, while Hillary McKinley added eight points and 10 rebounds and Nicole Monroe scored seven points with 12 rebounds.
