The Clarkson University Women's Basketball program has announced the hiring of Brittany Barton as the new top assistant coach for the Golden Knights for the 2013-14 season. She replaces Emily Cummings, who spent the last three seasons as the Golden Knights' assistant coach.
Barton graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2013 with a degree in Kinesiology & Wellness Management. Barton played in 89 games for Houston Baptist University, including 41 starts, and scored 377 points,grabbed 187 rebounds, and dished out 67 assists for the Division I Huskies. After ranking second on the team in 3-point field goals made in her sophomore and junior seasons with 39 starts in 57 games, Barton suffered and injury and played just nine games as a senior.
The President of the Houston Baptist University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Barton was active in the Huskies' Athletic Department during her four years at the school. She worked as an intern in the Sports Media Department and was an HBU Spirit Award Nominee. During the NBA All-Star Weekend held February 2013 in Houston, she served for numerous clinics in the NBA Cares & NBA Fit series. Finally, Barton also was the first woman coach in the AAU 18-U Boys National Showcase Tournament.
