The start of ECAC Hockey play brought out the best in the Clarkson University Hockey team over the weekend as the Golden Knights earned three points on the road after finishing off their trip to New England with a 2-1 victory over Brown in Providence, RI on Saturday night.

Clarkson, which skated to a 2-2 tie at Yale on Friday, improves its record to 3-4-3 overall. The Knights, who broke out of a seven-game winless skid (0-4-3) with the one-goal win over the Bears, will take their 1-0-1 ECAC Hockey mark into Central NY this coming weekend when they play at Cornell and Colgate.

Sophomore Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA) was solid in the Green and Gold crease with 27 saves, while sophomore Jordan Boucher (St. Therese, QUE) and junior defenseman Paul Geiger (Stouffville, ONT) supplied the goals in the road win.

Boucher got things rolling for the Knights early in the first period when he knocked in a shot off his own rebound in front at 8:29 for his second goal of the season with Geiger and sophomore defenseman James de Haas (Mississauga, ONT) assisting.

Midway through the middle frame, Clarkson went on top 2-0. Shortly after failing to connect on a five-minute power-play, the Knights' captain, Geiger took a shot from the point that found its way through traffic at 10:15. de Haas and sophomore A.J. Fossen (Maple Grove, MN) assisted on Geiger's first goal of the year.

With 1:43 remaining in the second, Brown was awarded a penalty shot. Bear's forward Matt Lorito was presented the opportunity, but was denied by Perry, who made a blocker save on the one-on-one attempt to keep Clarkson on top 2-0 entering the second intermission.

With 2:54 remaining in regulation, the Bears had another excellent opportunity to get on the scoreboard with their third power play of the night. The Knights successfully killed off the home team's man-advantage chance, but Brown was finally able to get one past Perry with 50.9 seconds left. Playing with the extra attacker with their goaltender out of the net, Lorito picked up a loose puck off a blocked shot by Clarkson and lifted a shot past Perry.

That was all Brown would get, however, as the Knights closed out the game by controlling the puck in the final seconds.

Both teams had 28 shots. Perry made eight saves in both the first and second periods and added 11 more stops over the final 20 minutes to improve his record in the Clarkson crease to 3-3-1.
