Poughkeepsie, NY - Senior Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) had 26 kills over the course of two matches on Saturday afternoon for the Clarkson University Volleyball team, becoming the Golden Knights' all-time kills leader in the process, as the Green and Gold remained unbeaten in conference matches and in 2011 with victories over RIT and host Vassar College.

The Golden Knights moved to 17-0 overall and 4-0 in the Liberty League, defeating RIT in three sets 25-16, 25-22, 25-20, and taking out the Brewers in four 26-24, 25-16, 26-28, 25-22. Clarkson returns to non-league action when they face top-20 ranked Cortland State on Tuesday.

"I'm just so proud of the team today," head coach Johan Dulfer remarked. "We had a really rough week leading up to this weekend, and something was just 'off' for so much of these two days. For us to fight through that and gut out three conference wins shows how much (the players) believe in each other. It wasn't always pretty, and it sure wasn't easy, but we played two very tough teams today and are coming home with two wins, and that feels great."

In the opener against RIT, sophomore setter Lani Durio (Austin, TX) had a solid all-around match with five kills and only one error in 11 attacks while setting up 27 kills. She also contributed three aces, as well as eight digs on the defensive side. Artus led the team with 11 kills, while Bailey Walker (Centennial, CO) had seven kills and two errors in 16 swings. Defensively, Erika Chin (Katy, TX) led the squad with 12 digs, while freshman Kristen Orlandini (Fairport, NY) added 10 digs.

In the four-set victory over Vassar, Artus struck for 15 kills with just four errors for a hitting percentage of .344, while freshman Becca Brabec (Lemont, IL) added in 14 kills. Durio produced 41 assists, while Chin contributed 23 digs with four aces. Senior Megan Mahon (Irvine, CA) also had four aces.

Artus's 14th kill of the Vassar match enabled her to surpass Heather Sill '04 for Clarkson's all-time kills mark. Artus now has 1,411 career kills.
