Elmira, NY - Two freshmen finished with double-doubles as the Clarkson University Volleyball team posted four-set victory over Elmira College in its first action in nearly two weeks 25-19, 25-10, 14-25, 25-20 Friday night.

The Golden Knights improved to 18-4 overall, winning for the 13th time in the past 14 matches, while Elmira fell to 11-10. Clarkson will take on Mount Aloysius at 10:00 am on Saturday.

Freshmen setter Kirstie Shurie (LaCanada, CA) picked up the slack for an injured Lani Durio, producing 38 assists and 11 digs while running the offense. Classmates Aishvina Arasu (Brea, CA) struck for 11 kills and 10 digs and Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) nearly had a double-double as well with 9 kills and 18 digs. However, the big contribution on offense came from senior Bailey Walker (Centennial, CO), who had 13 kills against just one error in 31 swings while adding three total blocks.

Junior Erika Chin (Katy, TX) led the team with 26 digs, her third-highest figure in 22 matches this year. Adrienne Walker (Centennial, CO) also added 7 kills, 2 aces, and 4 total blocks.

"This was a great comeback from two long weeks off for us," head coach Johan Dulfer said. "I thought we did a good job creating our own intensity level and learning throughout the match. We ran a very diverse offense tonight and it really opened things up."
