POTSDAM -- For the fourth time this season, freshman Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) of the Clarkson University Volleyball team was chosen as the top freshman of the week, gaining Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday, helping the Golden Knights close out the regular season with a record of 26-6.
Kirkemo, who also picked up the honor three straight weeks in late-September going into the first week of October, played well over the course of five matches last week, recording 54 kills (2.84 kills per set), seven aces (0.37 aces per set), 58 digs (3.05 digs per set) and eight blocks (0.42 blocks per set).
Her most impressive performance came against Mount St. Vincent, tallying 21 kills and 11 digs in a three-set victory.
Overall, Kirkemo has 335 kills (3.17 per set), 54 aces (0.48 per set), 322 digs (2.88 per set) and 29 blocks (0.26 per set).
She is the first freshman in 16 seasons to go beyond 300 kills and 300 digs in a season for the Knights, joining Laura Mandell as the only Clarkson newcomers to reach both those mark
