Clarkson University hires new women's head lacrosse coach

POTSDAM -- The Clarkson University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Adair Milmoe as the head coach for its women’s lacrosse program for 2012-13.

Milmoe, who will be the 12th head coach in 34 years of Clarkson Women’s Lacrosse, replaces Kathryn Durki, who left Clarkson to pursue other opportunities.

“I’m very happy to be joining the Clarkson Athletic Department family and I’m excited about taking over the women’s lacrosse program,” Milmoe remarked. “As an alumnus of William Smith, I’m very familiar with the Liberty League and look forward to the challenge of coaching against such high quality opponents.”

Milmoe graduated from William Smith College in 1988 with a degree in Psychology and then earned a masters’ degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University 1992. Milmoe played women’s lacrosse and field hockey for the Herons in the late-1980s and embarked on her head coaching career in late 2001 with Oswego State. While with the Lakers she posted a pair of winning seasons, including an 11-6 mark (6-1 in conference) in 2005 when she was selected as the SUNYAC Coach of the Year. In her four seasons she coached in eight postseason games, three more than any other coach in the program’s history.

Following Oswego, Milmoe spent a season at Division I Colgate University as an assistant coach and then moved on to Morrisville State where she functioned as the head coach for field hockey and assistant coach for women’s lacrosse. While at Morrisville, she had secondary duties as the athletic department’s NCAA Division III Compliance Officer. She has spent the last year as an instructor at Syracuse University.

“We are excited to have Adair join our staff,” Clarkson Associate Athletic Director Laurel Kane said. “Her knowledge of the game and proven success will provide a seamless transition for the lacrosse program. After a successful season last spring, I am looking forward to watching the program continue to develop under her guidance.”
