Clarkson University hires assistant coaches for soccer, basketball programs

POTSDAM -- The Clarkson University Athletic Department has hired new assistant coaches for their Golden Knights men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s basketball programs.

Eric Venezia, a 2017 graduate of the University of Vermont, spent the last four seasons playing soccer for the Division I Catamounts, during which time the team reached the NCAA Tournament twice. He has also coached the Black Watch Premier (Burlington) Soccer Club and Far Post (Essex Junction) Soccer Club.

Steve Domino will help coach the women’s soccer team for the 2017-18 season. He spent three season with the SUNY New Paltz Hawks, compiling 186 saves, a .735 save percentage and 1.74 goals against average in 39 games. For the past season, he was athletics operations manager at New Paltz, and the year before that was an assistant coach at Vassar College, specializing in goalkeeping training. He has a masters of sports administration degree from Canisius College.

Colleen Ames will join the staff of the Golden Knights' Women's Basketball program as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2017 and spent the past season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hawks, who went 20-9 and won their second straight SUNYAC title, reaching the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. She played two seasons with the Hawks, accumulating 407 points with 82 3-pointers. She also grabbed 177 rebounds and dished out 45 assists with 45 steals. Ames also played for two years at the NCAA Division II level with St. Thomas Aquinas, recording 171 points in 47 games.
