POTSDAM -- Senior Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) enjoyed three first-place finishes in individual events and led the winning 200 medley relay team as the Clarkson University Swim team split a dual meet against Worcester Polytechnic Institute Saturday afternoon at Fuller Pool.

The Golden Knights men's team edged WPI 137-125, while the women's squad fell short of the sweep, falling 146-134. Clarkson will host Oswego State at 1:00 pm next Saturday.

Rowe started off the race for the 200 medley relay which included Chris Plummer (Spencerport, NY), Aaron Kreher (Clarence, NY) and Paul Telesca (Liverpool, NY). The team finished the event in 1:57.18. Rowe then took the 100 backstroke in 1:03.39, the 200 backstroke in 2:17.62, and the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:51.42. Telesca and Plummer also each gained a pair of victories for Clarkson, with Telesca winning the 50 freestyle (25.87) and 100 freestyle (57.53) and Plummer taking the 100 breaststroke (1:14.84) and 200 breaststroke (2:51.42).

Junior Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) was the other winner for Clarkson, reaching the pad in 9:34.75 in the 800 freestyle.

Clarkson's 400 medley relay team of Nick Clemens (Lowville, NY), Nate Menapace (Baldwinsville, NY), Mike Tarsel (Baldwinsville, NY) and Telesca also finished first in 3:56.21, but swam the race as an exhibition since the final result for Clarkson's men was no longer in doubt.

For the women, junior Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) won both the 50 freestyle (29.94) and 100 freestyle (1:06.64), the only swimmer to win multiple individual events for the Knights. Freshmen Kelly Ludeke (Burnt Hills, NY), Emily Dreisbach (Charlton, NY), and Kelly Mulvehill (Penfield, NY) also each won individual events for Clarkson. Ludeke finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.98), Dreisbach took the top honor in the 100 butterfly (2:59.32), and Mulvehill placed first in the 200 breaststroke (3:02.54).

Clarkson's relay teams also won both the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. Caitlin Joyce (Walden, NY), Ludeke, Dreisbach, and Abby Luber (Camillus, NY) won the 200 medley with a time of 2:18.87, while Dreisbach, Brown, Kelsey Jones (Kattskill Bay, NY), and Ludeke won the 400 medley in 4:26.58.
