A five-game home stand at Cheel Arena got off to a strong start for the Clarkson University Hockey team as the Golden Knights scored their most goals in two years and posted their second shutout of the season in Friday's 6-0 ECAC Hockey victory over Brown.

Greg Lewis (Mars, PA) came through with his second solid outing in the Clarkson crease, posting 27 saves, including a penalty-shot stop, for his third career shutout and junior Todd Christian (Norwalk, CT) highlighted the Knights' potent offensive display with a pair of goals. Junior defenseman Kevin Tansey (Hammond, ONT), sophomore rearguard James de Haas (Mississauga, ONT) and classmate Jordon Boucher (St. Therese, QUE), and freshman Janick Asselin (Coaticook, QUE) also scored for the Green and Gold, who have now tallied 11 goals in their last two games.

Winners of their past two games, the Knights improve to 9-11-4 overall and to 6-4-2 in ECAC Hockey play, good for a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings. Clarkson hosts Yale on Saturday.

Clarkson outshot Brown (4-14-0, 1-10-0) 33-27.

Tansey scored his first goal of the season, connecting on a hard slap shot from just inside the blueline at 10:27 of the first period to start the scoring. de Haas picked up his eighth assist of the season after chipping the puck from along the boards to Tansey at center ice.

Clarkson took control in the middle frame, highlighting a dominating effort with three goals.

Brown had the best opportunity early in the stanza when Matt Lorito was awarded a penalty shot 23 seconds in after Clarkson was called for throwing the puck out of the crease during a scramble. Lewis came up with a pad save on Lorito's shot. Clarkson's last save on a penalty shot also came against Lorito when sophomore Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA) stop the Bear's leading scorer on November 8.

Clarkson grabbed a 3-0 lead later in the period with a pair of goals 1:27 apart. Asselin picked up a goal in the second straight game at 7:52 when he jumped out of the penalty box right after the Knights had killed off a five-minute major, picked up a loose puck along the right boards and fired in a wrist shot for an unassisted tally.

At 9:19, Christian gathered in a long rebound off a shot by sophomore Troy Josephs (Whitby, ONT) for his fourth goal of the year.

A power-play marker by de Haas, who one-timed a pass from freshman defenseman Kelly Summers (Golden Lake, ONT) with a shot from the blueline at 17:12, made it 4-0 after 40 minutes.

The Knights continued to roll in the final frame and made it 5-0 at 6:38 when Christian found a rebound at the side of the net and lifted in a shot for his first career multiple-goal game with his fifth tally of the season. Senior defenseman James Howden (Edgeley, SASK) and junior Jeff DiNallo (Aurora, ONT) assisted.

With 5:43 remaining, sophomore Boucher stole the puck off a Brown player's stick and scored on a breakaway for his sixth goal of the season, capping off the Knights' most productive offensive outing since defeating Cornell 6-3 on February 2, 2013.

Lewis, who made his third start of the season, made 10 first-period saves, nine stops in the middle frame and eight more saves over the final 20 minutes to earn his 20th career victory.

Clarkson was 1-of-5 on the power play and killed off all five of the Bears' man-advantage opportunities.
