After a two-week break the Clarkson University Hockey team return to the ice with a 6-2 victory in exhibition play against Queen's University on Sunday evening at Cheel Arena.

Sophomore Jeff DiNallo (Aurora, ONT) paced the Golden Knights offensively with two goals and two assists. Making his first appearance for Clarkson, freshman goaltender Ville Runola (Raisio, Finland) posted 15 saves.

Clarkson outshot the Gaels 45-17. The Knights went 0-of-8 on the power play, while Queen's was 0-of-4.

The Knights (10-3-1, 4-2 ECAC Hockey) return to NCAA play this weekend when they battle archrival St. Lawrence University in a home-and-home series. Clarkson hosts the Saints on Friday at Cheel and then travels 10 miles down Route 11 on Saturday to face off against its North Country neighbor at Appleton Arena in Canton.

Queens opened the scoring with a goal by Jordan Soquila at 7:22 of the first, but Clarkson answered back with five straight goals to take command. DiNallo tied the game at 12:33 of the opening period.

The Knights gained control in the middle frame with three goals for a 4-1 lead through 40 minutes.

Playing in his first game at Clarkson, freshman defenseman Bryan Sinz (Anchorage, AK) took a pass from DiNallo at the point and fired in a high shot at 9:15 to give the Green and Gold the lead. At 12:24, senior captain Ben Sexton (Kanata, ONT) one-timed a shot from the left circle off a pass from Allan McPherson (Kinburn, ONT). DiNallo connected again at 14:43, knocking in a shot at the side of the net. McPherson and junior defenseman Sam Labrecque (Granby, QUE) assisted.

Labrecque made it 5-1 to start the final period, connecting off a pass from DiNallo at 2:20. The Gaels got back on the scoreboard at 14:54 with a goal by Blair Wentworth.

With 21 seconds remaining, senior defenseman Alex Boak (Norwood, NY) closed out the scoring with Clarkson's sixth goal. Sophomore Todd Christen (Norwalk, CT) assisted.
