Rochester, NY - Freshman Evan Cody (Malta, NY) shot a one-under park for the Clarkson University Golf team in the first round of the Nazareth Fall Golf Invitational on Sunday, but he and the rest of the Golden Knights couldn't maintain the pace as they finished sixth among eight teams Monday afternoon at the par-72 Irondequoit Country Club.
Clarkson took sixth place with a score of 656, trailing Daemen College (596), St. Lawrence (604), Roberts Wesleyan (613), the University of Ottawa (631), Hobart (641) and leading Nazareth (659) and Monroe Community College (DNF).
Cody scored a 71 on the opening day of the tournament, three shots off the pace yet good enough for second place through 18 holes. His 83 on day two dropped him into a tie for ninth among the 39 golfers as he scored 154 over 36 holes. Sophomore Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) and freshman Nate Hagstrom (Clinton, NY) were next for the Knights, placing in a tie for 29th with 168 each, as both scored 83 on the first day and 85 on day two. Senior Nick Triassi (Rochester, NY) took 34th with 172 (80-92) and classmate Mike Mailhot (Massena, NY) scored 174 (88-86) to round out the Knights' scoring.
