Clarkson Nordic skiing finishes individual portion of National Championships

On the final day of individual competition at the 2015 National Championships, the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team had nine top 30 finishes in the 15K Freestyle.

In the women's race, junior Ashley Forshey (Scotia, NY) was the top Clarkson racer for the third straight day. She finished in fifth place with a time of 43:21.7. Next for Clarkson came sophomore Katie Dunn (Penfield, NY) who came in 22nd with a time of 48:54.2. Seniors Taryn Dausman (Syracuse, NY) and Olivia Dawson (Scottsville, NY) finished back to back with Dausman in 27th (50:11.4) and Dawson in 28th (51:41.3). Junior Chelsea Farinacci (Huntington, NY) came in 30th with a time of 53:30.9. Clarkson would finish fourth out of eight teams in the team standings.

The men finished in sixth out of eight teams. Their top finisher was junior Eric Mallery (Webster, NY) who came in 17th with a time of 40:18.0. Not far behind him were junior Ben King (Jericho, VT) and freshman Peter Mallery (Webster, NY) who finished in 19th (40:38.0) and 20th (40:41.4) respectively. Freshman Brian Chrzan (Clifton Park, NY) was the fourth Clarkson skier in the top 30, finishing in 26th with a time of 41:53.6.

In the combined individual standings, Forshey was the highest Clarkson finisher, coming in fifth. Dawson was 19th and Dunn was 25th. Dausman came in 28th and junior Meaghan McKenna (Hamburg, NY) came in 30th. On the men's side, Eric Mallery came in 13th and Peter Mallery came in 16th. King was 19th and Chrzan finished in 24th with senior Paul Ferrer (San Antonio, TX) came in 26th. Finally, freshman Ethan Katz (Glens Falls, NY) came in 30th.

The team will compete in the Team Sprint tomorrow to close out the national championships.
