Clarkson University Women's Hockey Head Coach Matt Desrosiers has announced the addition of Tony Maci as an assistant coach for the Golden Knights.

Maci, who replaces Meghan Duggan, will join Desrosiers and fellow assistant coach Britni Smith behind the Clarkson bench this season.

Maci comes to Clarkson from Princeton University where he served as an assistant coach last season, helping to lead the Tigers to one of their most successful campaigns ever. Prior to his one-year stint at Princeton, Maci was the assistant coach for the women's hockey program at Adrian College (Mich.) since 2012.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Tony to Clarkson," stated Desrosiers. "I have known Tony for about 15 years now and you won't meet a more down to earth and genuine guy. He's the type of person and coach that is going to work hard every day to help our players grow and get better individually and as a team. Tony has been an integral part of some successful teams at Princeton and Adrian so I look forward to him bringing in some new ideas and excitement. We can't wait to get him on campus to start preparing for next season."

Maci's first year as a coach at the Division I level was highly successful as he played a significant role in guiding Princeton to the most wins in program history with a 22-9-2 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers also won the Ivy League title and finished third in the ECAC Hockey regular-season standings in 2015-16. His primary focus at Princeton was as the forwards coach and indiviidual skill development. Princeton ranked third in ECAC Hockey in conference offense last season, averaging 3.05 goals per game, trailing only Clarkson (3.55) and Quinnipiac (3.18)

"I'm really excited to get things started here at Clarkson with Matt and Brit," said Maci. "They are great people and have created an evironment that challenges the players to excel everyday. The success of the program speaks for itself and I'm really excited for the team to come back to get the 2016-17 season started. I loved my time at Princeton. It's hard when you're leaving unbelievable people, and I'm truly thankful for everything Jeff (Kampersal), Cara (Morey) and Princeton University gave me."

While at Adrian Maci was involved in nearly every aspect of the Bulldogs' program. In addition to being the primary defense coach, he was the team travel coordinator, developed on and off ice individual workouts, managed weekly team study tables and created the Adrian College Bulldogs Girls Camp. He was responsible for creating and implementing the special team systems, the best in the NCAA, as reflected by their NCAA-leading combined special teams in 2012-13 and 2014-15. Additionally, he constructed the defensive and neutral zone systems.

Adrian posted the best win percentage in school history in 2014-15 at 84.6 percent, with its second 20+ win season in three seasons. The Bulldogs were the undefeated regular season champions in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) in 2014-15. Maci was responsible for the recruitment of the eventual NCHA Freshman of the Year and four all-freshman team selections. Six players earned All-America honors, including three first-team selections on defense. Seven of his defenders were also named all-NCHA.

A native of Grosse Ile, Mich., Maci played his junior hockey with the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL). Maci is a 2004 graduate of St. Lawrence University with a degree in English. A five-year member of the men's hockey program, Maci earned a medical redshirt as a freshmen before going on to play in 83 games. He registered 17 points and 68 penalty minutes as a defender. He is currently pursing his master's degree in education from St. Lawrence.
