Coming off a successful opening weekend at Cheel Arena, the Clarkson University Hockey team closes out a three-game home stand with one game this week, hosting Canisius College of Atlantic Hockey on Saturday, at 7:00 p.m.

Guided by eighth-year head coach Casey Jones and assistants Josh Hauge and Brent Brekke, the Golden Knights are 2-2 to start the season. Clarkson knocked off 13th-ranked Wisconsin 4-2 in the home opener on Friday and then held off Holy Cross for a 3-1 victory on Saturday. The Green and Gold open their 97th campaign on October 11-12 dropping two to Top-10 ranked Penn State (4-3, 5-1) in Happy Valley, PA.

• After losing the opening game in the series vs. Canisius, the Knights are unbeaten against the Golden Griffins over the last five games (2-0-3) to hold a 2-1-3 lead between the two New York State schools. Clarkson swept Canisius in a home-and-home series last season, winning 5-1 on December 2 in Buffalo and 4-0 in Potsdam on January 2.

• Since the 2013-14 campaign, the Knights are 12-0-1 against Atlantic Hockey foes. Clarkson last suffered a defeat to a team from Atlantic Hockey on December 15, 2012, falling to Mercyhurst 3-1 at Cheel.

• The Knights have scored the opening goal in each of the first four games.

• Clarkson received a balanced effort offensively in the weekend sweep with six different Knights accounting for the seven goals. Two sophomores and a pair of freshmen, with their first career goals, accounted for the Knights' scoring in the win over Wisconsin.

• After giving up nine goals combined in the opening weekend at Penn State, the Green and Gold allowed only three goals in this past weekend's victories. Both Wisconsin and Holy Cross traveled to the North Country tied for second in the nation in scoring, averaging five goals per game.

He has scored the first goal of the game in each of the last three contests. Cooper also scored twice, including the opening goal, in the 4-3 exhibition win over Guelph on October 6.

He made 26 saves, including 12 first-period stops, in the 4-2 win over 13th-ranked Wisconsin. Kielly followed with 24 saves in the 3-1 victory over Holy Cross. Both opponents came into Cheel Arena, averaging five goals a game. A third-team ECAC Hockey All-Star last season, Kielly was named one of the 20 Division I goaltenders to the watch list for the 2019 Mike Richter Award, which annually honors the most outstanding goaltender in the NCAA. Kielly posts a career .920 save percentage and a 2.20 goals against average en route to a 40-28-11 record including 11 shutouts, which is tied for first among active Division I goaltenders.

• Junior forwards Devin Brosseau and Nico Sturm have been named "Robert E. Empie '68 Men's Hockey Team Captains" while senior forward Marly Quince and Jake Kielly will serve as assistant captains.

• With at least one point in each of the first four games, Nico Sturm leads the Knights offensively with five points, including a team-high four assists. He is listed among the Top 75 NCAA players to watch by The Hockey News. The Knights' top returning scorer with 37 points (14-23), Sturm was named ECAC Hockey's Best Defensive Forward and a third-team conference all-star last season.

• Devin Brosseau tallied the game-winner on the power play against Holy Cross and recorded an assist vs. Wisconsin.

• With the graduation loss of defensemen Terrance Amorosa and Kelly Summers, and the 135 points they took with them, Clarkson is looking for the freshmen to make an immediate contribution on the blueline. One of the rookies received noticed for his play this past weekend as Brian Hurley has been selected ECAC Hockey's Rookie of the Week. Along with providing solid play on the blueline in Clarkson's home-opening weekend sweep, Hurley also contributed offensively with a power-play goal and one assist in the win over Wisconsin and recorded an assist on the Knights' opening goal in the victory over Holy Cross.

Dunn scored on the power play on Friday for his first collegiate point and also had the primary assist on the game-winner against the Badgers. He also recorded an assist on the deciding goal against Holy Cross on Saturday.

• Last year's leading scorer with 46 points (23-23), Sheldon Rempal, who signed a pro contract with the Los Angeles Kings' organization after his All-American sophomore campaign, opened his career by leading AHL rookies in scoring. He tallied eight points (4-4) through the opening four games this season with LA's AHL affiliate the Ontario Reign. Rempal made his NHL debut on October 18, playing in the Kings' game vs. the NY Islanders.
