Non-league play continues for the Clarkson University Hockey team this weekend when the Golden Knights host Bowling Green State University of the WCHA in a two-game series at Cheel Arena. Clarkson, guided by fourth-year head coach Casey Jones and assistants Phil Roy '00 and Andy Jones, stands at 2-2 overall.

The Green and Gold will look to build upon the lessons learned this past weekend after they were swept in a home-and-home series by the University of Vermont. On Friday, Clarkson was edged by the Catamounts 2-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington and then shut out the following night in Potsdam with UVM earning a 3-0 victory in the Golden Knights' home opener. The Knights remain in the North Country next weekend as they battle archrival St. Lawrence in a non-league, home-and-home series. ECAC Hockey play begins for Clarkson on November 7 when the Green and Gold visit New Haven, CT to play at 2013 NCAA National Champion Yale University in the first of four straight conference road games.

After playing in the Deep South this past weekend, the Falcons travel to the North Country to close out a five-game road trip. Bowling Green is coming off an impressive effort at WCHA foe Alabama Huntsville. BGSU shutout out the Chargers 5-0 on Friday and then skated to a 4-1 victory on Saturday. The Falcons opened the season with a series split against nationally-ranked Miami, defeating the RedHawks 3-2 at home on October 10 before dropping a 3-2 decision the following night in Oxford, OH.

• Despite outshooting Vermont 49-44 over the weekend, Clarkson struggled to finish around the net with just one goal scored in the two-game series. The Knights outshot the Catamounts 11-0 in the third period of Saturday's game.

• Sophomore Troy Josephs (Whitby, ONT) was the Knights' lone goal scorer against the Catamounts. He tallied his third career goal late in the second period to tie Friday's game 1-1. Linemates, sophomore Jordan Boucher (St. Therese, QUE) and freshman Sam Vigneault (Baie-Comeau, QUE) assisted.

• Friday's game will be the 30th meeting between Clarkson and Bowling Green with the series tied 14-14-1 since the 1969-70 season. BGSU has won four of the last five games, while the Knights hold a 5-4-1 advantage in the past 10 meetings. In their last games, Clarkson and BGSU split a weekend series at Cheel on October 15-16, 2010. The Knights shut out the Falcons 4-0 on Friday and the visitors repaid the favor by winning 3-0 the next night.

• Bowling Green is the first team from the newly formed WCHA (established in 2013-14) that the Knights will play.

• Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA), one of 20 goalies named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List for 2014-15, which annually honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey, has played every minute in the Clarkson goal through the first four games. He posts a .910 save percentage and a 1.75 GAA.

• Defense is projected to be Clarkson's strength this season with five veterans and three freshmen, including two NHL Draft picks, anchoring the unit. The Knights are ranked tied for 12th in the nation, allowing only 1.75 goals per game. The penalty-killing unit is tied for 10th (12-13, 92.3%).

• Clarkson has received a balanced scoring effort through the first four games with seven different Knights accounting for the goals, scoring one each. Eleven players have tallied at least one point.

• Senior forward Joe Zarbo (Grand Iasland, NY) leads the Knights offensively with four points (1-3). He has 50 career points (23-27) through 108 games.

• Jordan Boucher (St. Therese, QUE) has recorded at least one point in three of the first four game. He has a goal and two assists.

• Sophomore defenseman James de Haas (Mississauga, ONT) recorded a goal and an assist at Niagara for his fifth career two-point outing and leads the Clarkson blueline in scoring.

• Junior defenseman Paul Geiger (Stouffville, ONT), who served as an assistant captain late last season, will serve as the Golden Knights captain in 2014-15. Senior defenseman James Howden (Edgeley, SASK) and junior Jeff DiNallo (Aurora, ONT) will act as assistant captains.

• Clarkson has just two seniors, defenseman James Howden and forward Joe Zarbo on the roster. Eight juniors, eight sophomores and nine freshmen make up the remainder of the 2014-15 Golden Knight roster.

• Sam Vigneault, one of eight freshmen to have skated for the Knights this season, leads the Clarkson rookies in scoring with two points (1-1). Nic Pierog (1-0) (Georgetwon, ONT) and Janick Asselin (0-1) (Coaticook, QUE) are the other Knight freshmen to record a point through the first four games.

• Four current Golden Knights have been selected in the NHL Draft – James de Haas (2012 Detroit - 6th rd, 170), Terrence Amorosa (2013 Philadelphia - 5th rd, 189), Troy Josephs (2013 Pittsburgh - 7th rd, 209) and Kelly Summers (2014 Ottawa - 7th rd, 189).

• Four former Knights were on NHL opening-day rosters – Mark Borowiecki '11 (Ottawa), Grant Clitsome '08 (Winnipeg), Erik Cole '00 (Dallas) and Willie Mitchell '99 (Florida) . Several former Clarkson standouts are on AHL/ECHL rosters.

• In its 93rd season, Clarkson boasts 70 winning campaigns and a 1,365-802-141 all-time record for a .622 winning percentage since 1920-21.
