HAMILTON -- The struggle continues for the Clarkson University Hockey team in Hamilton, NY as the Golden Knights squandered a lead against Colgate and fell to the Raiders 3-2 in ECAC Hockey action on Saturday night.

Clarkson, which had gone winless at the Colgate's old home arena, Starr Rink, in its last nine trips (0-6-3), would not fare any better at the Raiders' brand new venue, Class of 1965 Arena. The Knights held a 2-1 lead through forty minutes of play, but surrendered a pair of specialty teams goals in the third period to close out a seven-game road swing with a tough one-goal loss.

Clarkson, which settled for a 3-3 tie at Cornell on Friday, has not won on Colgate's home ice since skating to a 2-1 victory on February 3, 2007.

The Knights stand one game above .500 with an 11-10-4 overall record and drop to sixth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-5-2 league slate. Clarkson returns to Cheel Arena for its first home game since December 3 when the Green and Gold begin a three-game home stand hosting league leader Union on Friday.

Clarkson outshot the Raiders 37-24, including an 18-12 margin in the middle frame.

After a scoreless first period, the Knights took the initial lead just 70 seconds in the second stanza. Freshman Sheldon Rempal (Calgary, ALB) found the puck during a scrum in front and lifted in a backhand from the bottom of the left circle during a two-man advantage to give Clarkson a power-play goal in its fifth consecutive game.

Colgate (5-13-5, 3-6-2) tied it at 6:36 when Hunter Racine followed up rebound at 6:36.

The Knights went back on top at 16:19 with another power-play tally as freshman Nico Sturm (Augsburg, Germany) picked up a loose puck in the slot and fired in his sixth goal of the season. Freshman Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia) and junior Sam Vigneault (Baie-Comeau, QUE) assisted.

The Raiders came back, however, with two goals over the final 20 minutes to break out of a five-game (0-4-1) winless skid.

Tim Harrison scored an unassisted shorthanded breakaway goal at 9:23 to make it 2-2 and Evan Peterson tallied on the power play at 13:24 for the game-winner.

Clarkson went 2-of-5 on the power play, while Colgate was 1-of-5 with the man-advantage.

Freshman Jake Kielly posted 21 saves for the Knights. Charlie Finn made 35 stops for the Raiders.
