With a five-game winless stretch behind it after sweeping Division I Independent Arizona State University (3-2, 4-1) over the Thanksgiving weekend at Cheel Arena, the Clarkson University Hockey team will look to carry over its success in non-league play into ECAC Hockey action. The Golden Knights, guided by fifth-year head coach Casey Jones and assistant Phil Roy '00 and Josh Hauge, return to conference competition with the road trip to Colgate and Cornell, historically their toughest weekend series in league play. Friday's game at Colgate will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports.

• The Knights have struggled on the trip to Central NY, managing just three points (3-3 tie at Colgate on December 6, 2008, a 0-0 draw at Cornell on December 3, 2011 and a 2-2 tie against the Raiders last season on November 15) in the previous seven regular seasons. Clarkson gained three points on the trip in 2007-08 with a 1-1 tie against Colgate and a 4-2 victory over the Big Red. The last time, the Green and Gold swept the weekend road series at Colgate and Cornell was during the 1996-97 campaign on February 28 (3-1 over the Big Red) and March 1 (7-3 over the Raiders). The Big Red have won the last three meetings, including overtime victories in the last two games at Lynah Rink.

• Clarkson has been nearly unbeatable in non-league play with a 7-1 record, outscoring their non-conference opponents 32-18. In ECAC Hockey action it has been a whole different story. The Knights are still looking for their first win in the conference, standings at 0-3-2, have been outscored 13-4 and have suffered a pair of 3-0 shutouts through the first five league contests.

• The Line of sophomore center Sam Vigneault (Baie-Comeau, QUE), junior left wing A.J.
