A convincing 21-6 win over SUNY Canton on Wednesday at Hantz Turf Field open the 2017 campaign on an impressive note for the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team.

The Golden Knights received a balanced effort with thirteen different goal scorers. Clarkson outshot Canton 75-17 and dominated on ground balls, 41-17.

Freshman Conor Bartlett led the way offensively for the Green and Gold with two goals and four assists for a game-high six points. Senior Kyle Brown and Ryan DaRin tallied three goals each. Senior Ryan St. Croix recorded two goals and one assist, while sophomore Marcus Lavarnway and Kevin Munn chipped in two goals each.

The Knights took a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the first quarter. The Kangaroos (0-2) evened the score with a pair of goals with five minutes left in the opening frame, but from then on out it was all Clarkson as the Knights ran off 11 straight goals to hold a 13-2 lead early in the third quarter.

Clarkson, which held a 12-2 lead at the half, outscored the visitors 4-1 in the third quarter and 5-3 over the final 15 minutes.

The Knights won 24-of-26 faceoffs with freshman Ryan Gabriel leading the way with a 12-for-12 effort at the X. Gabriel also picked up a game-high seven ground balls.

Senior Nick Strandholm started in the Clarkson net and made two saves to pick up the win.
