Three seniors accounted for the goals and sophomore Greg Lewis (Mars, PA) was strong in the crease for the Golden Knights as the Clarkson University Hockey team defeated Dartmouth College 3-2 in ECAC Hockey action at Thompson Arena in Hanover, NH on Friday night.

With another one-goal victory, 15th/16th-ranked Clarkson improved its record to 8-2-1 overall and to 2-1 in ECAC Hockey. The Knights, who have gone 5-0-1 in one-goal games this year, are one victory shy of equaling last season's total of nine wins overall. The Green and Gold play at Harvard on Saturday in a 7:00 p.m. game at Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, MA.

Seniors Ben Sexton (Kanata, ONT) and Will Frederick (Allison Park, PA) led the Knights' offense with one goal and one assist apiece. Classmate Matt Zarbo (Grand Island, NY) also tallied for his first goal of the season. Lewis finished with 26 saves, including 14 in the middle stanza, to improve his record to 5-1 on the year.

The Knights went on top 2-0 in a strong opening period on the road. Frederick finished off some strong work in front by the Green and Gold's top line at 9:53, knocking in a goal for the third consecutive game. Senior linemates Jarrett Burton (Echo Bay, ONT) and Sexton assisted.

Clarkson's fourth line produced the second score as Matt Zarbo became the 18th Golden Knight this season to tallied a goal, finishing off a perfect feed by sophomore Simon Bessette (St. Jean, QUE) at 15:04. Freshman Perry D'Arrisso (Mississauga, ONT) also assisted. On Thursday Zarbo was named as a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.

Benefiting from a string of Clarkson penalties, Dartmouth gained momentum in the middle frame and controlled the game outshooting the Knights 16-9. The Big Green tied the game 2-2 midway through the stanza with a pair of power-play scores 71 seconds apart. Dartmouth got on the scoreboard at 11:20 when Grant Opperman knocked in a rebound while the home team was skating on a 5-on-3 advantage. At 12:31, Eric Neiley connected just as a Dartmouth power play was coming to an end to tie the contest 2-2. The Big Green's last seven goals have come on the man-advantage.

Just under two minutes later, the Knights made the most of a Big Green penalty to regain the lead. At 14:29, Sexton converted off assists from sophomore defenseman Kevin Tansey (Hammond, ONT) and Frederick for his second goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner.

Looking to hold the lead and preserve a road win, Clarkson dominated in the final frame, outshooting Dartmouth 14-3.

The Knights held a 32-28 shot advantage for the game. Both teams had five power-play opportunities with Clarkson converting once and Darmouth twice.
