Mother Nature has fouled up its early attempts at intercollegiate competition, but eventually the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team be back to begin the 2014 season, after seeing the Middlebury Ski Club Invitational canceled for this weekend.
Last season the Golden Knights swept the USCSA Regionals, with the men coming in first place out of four teams and the women taking the top spot out of three teams. On the men's side, multiple athletes return to he team, as sophomore Eric Mallery (Webster, NY) came in second place in the 8.5K Classic to help guide the Knights to a first place finish. Junior Adam Merkwan (Meredith, NH) came in third place in the 15K skate to help boost the men to a first place finish.
The women return most of the talent from the team that placed first last year in the regionals, as sophomore Ashley Forshey (Scotia, NY) won two events last season as a freshman. Junior Olivia Dawson (Scottsville, NY) also returns after placing second in two events in last year's regionals.
The Knights are coming off a third place finish for the men in the USCSA Nationals last year, as well as a seventh place finish for the women.
