Making his second start of the season, sophomore goaltender Ville Runola (Raisio, Finland) made 30 saves as the Clarkson University Hockey team picked up a hard earned ECAC Hockey point on the road with a 2-2 tie at Yale in the opening game of the 2014-15 league campaign in New Haven, CT on Friday night.

The Golden Knights, who have skated to three ties in the last five games, will look to break out of a seven-game winless stretch (0-4-3) when they battle Brown in Providence, RI on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Clarkson, which last won on October 11, owns a 2-4-3 overall record.

Clarkson fell behind 1-0 early in the first at Ingalls Rink when Yale's (1-0-2) Matt Killian scored at 5:36, shortly after the Bulldogs had killed off the Green and Gold's lone power play.

A pair of goals 89 seconds apart early in the second period put the Knights on top at 2-1. Senior Joe Zarbo (Grand Island, NY) forced a turnover in the Yale end and scored on a quick wrist shot for an unassisted tally at 4:40 for his team-high fifth goal of the season.

Clarkson came right back at 6:09 when junior Todd Christian from nearby Norwalk, CT, finished off assists from freshman Brett Gervais (Corona, CA) and sophomore defenseman James de Haas (Mississauga, ONT) for his first goal of the season.

Yale evened the game at 2-2 with a goal by Anthony Day on a backhand shot from along the boards at 7:30 of the third.

Clarkson was outshot over the 65-minute contest 32-19, but held the edge in the five-minute overtime session, 3-2.

Runola, who also started the 2-2 tie against Bowling Green on October 24, equaled his career-high save mark with 10 first-period saves, six more in the second frame, 12 saves in the third and two more in overtime.

Alex Lyon made 17 saves for the Bulldogs in the first draw between Clarkson and Yale in 15 years.

The Knights were 0-of-1 on the power play and killed off both of the Bulldogs' man-advantage opportunities.
