PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Three Golden Knights scored goals, all set up by sophomore Ben Sexton, and senior Paul Karpowich posted 40 saves, including a penalty-shot stop, as the Clarkson University Hockey team skated to its second straight ECAC Hockey win on the road with a 3-1 victory over Brown University Friday.

Clarkson, which is 5-1-2 in its last eight league games, improves its record to 13-11-5 overall and moves into third place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 7-5-3 league mark.

The Knights close out a four-game road trip by playing Yale in a 7:00 p.m. game on Saturday at Ingalls Rink in New Haven, CT. The Bulldogs fell 4-3 in overtime to St. Lawrence on Friday.

Clarkson took control early against Brown, jumping out to a 2-0 first-period lead. For the second consecutive game, sophomore defenseman Alex Boak (Norwood, NY) started the scoring when he tallied just 2:19 into the contest. Boak, with his second goal of the season, finished off assists from classmates Allan McPherson (Kinburn, ONT) and Sexton with a wrist shot under the crossbar.

At, 12:02, freshman Patrick Marsh (Whitby, ONT) took a pass from Sexton in the slot and put in his third goal of the season.

The Knights struck again early in the middle frame as grad student Nick Tremblay (Candiac, QUE) extended his scoring streak with a power-play marker at 5:12.

After taking a cross-crease pass from Sexton at the side of the net, Tremblay poked in his team-high 14th goal of the season to make it a 3-0 lead.

Tremblay has scored a goal in each of the last four games and has tallied at least one point in each of the past seven games for 11 points (5-6) over that span. Senior Louke Oakley (Whitby, ONT) also assisted to extend his point-scoring streak to five games (3-6).

Brown (8-11-3, 5-8-2), which outshot Clarkson 41-20, picked up its play as the period continued and finally got on the scoreboard with a power-play tally from Jack Maclellan at 13:56 of the second.

The Bears continued to pressure in the third with 15 shots on goal, including a penalty shot attempt. At 7:10 of the period, Clarkson was called for a hooking penalty during a man-advantage situation. On the ensuing penalty shot, Brown’s Bobby Farnham’s scoring chance was turned aside by Karpowich, who stopped the shot with a pad save.

Clarkson was 1-of-4 on the power play, while the Bears went 1-of-3 with man-advantage.
