Webster, NY - A 12th-place finish by Mike Rowe (Glenville, NY) in the 200 backstroke highlighted the final day for the Clarkson University Swim team at the 2012 UNYSCSA Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center.

The Golden Knights' men finished with 231 points, good for 12th place among the 13 squads, while the women took 14th with 146 points.

Saturday's finals began with the endurance events as both Sean Parnett (Clifton Park, NY) and Colleen Daly (Manlius, NY) scored for the Knights in the 1650 freestyle. Parnett took 20th place in the men's race in 17:34.57, while Daly finished 22nd on the women's side in 19:28.74. Freshman Nick Hens (Liverpool, NY) also almost finished in the top 24, taking 29th place overall.

Mike Rowe gained top honors for Clarkson, finishing 12th in the 200 backstroke in 1:56.84, and Chris Plummer (Spencerport, NY) gained points for the Knights in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.14, eight seconds better than his seed time. The Knights had some other near misses in both events, as Aaron Cubells (Hamden, CT), Stephen Maxwell (Latham, NY) and Tyler Nichols (Spencerport, NY) all finished in the next eight swimmers outside of the finals in the 200 backstroke. Similarly, Aaron Parysek (Spencerport, NY) took 29th in the 200 breaststroke, and Michael Mahoney (Andover, NY) came in 36th in that event as well.

On the women's side, Kelly Ludeke (Burnt Hills, NY) came in 26th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.87, while Lindsey Borakove (New York, NY) and Anne Hawn (Gouverneur, NY) finished in 29th and 34th place, respectively. Four swimmers finished outside of the point-scoring in the 200 backstroke for the women, led by Kimberly Stillittano (Binghamton, NY) in 38th, and Caitlyn Joyce (Walden, NY) in 39th. Katrina Smith (Ballston Spa, NY) and Alexandra Pesold (Massena, NY) placed 45th and 47th, respectively.

In the 100 freestyle, 18 swimmers raced for the men and women, but none could crack the top 24 to pick up points in the overall standings. Jillian Brown (Kenmore, NY) led the way for Clarkson, taking 29th in 56.80 seconds, and Emma Bonan (Queensbury, NY) and Emily Dreisbach (Charlton, NY) weren't far behind in 32nd and 33rd, respectively. Deonna Coleman (Derby, NY), Abby Luber (Camillus, NY), Kelsey Jones (Kattskill Bay, NY), Courtney Karszes (Stanley, NY), Jaclyn Yeaton (Merrimack, NH), and Lauren Malone (Plattsburgh, NY) finished further down the list in the preliminary race. For the men, freshman Mike Tarsel (Baldwinsville, NY) was the top competitor for the Knights, tying for 31st in 49.40 seconds. Clarkson's "B" squad of Cubells, Bailey, Clemens, and Maciuba finished in 24th in 3:24.80.
