David Goerold (Clifton Park, NY) and David Kinney (Mexico, NY), two Golden Knight standouts who played key roles in leading the Clarkson University Baseball team to the 2011 NCAA Baseball New York Regional, added more honors to their impressive award collections this week.

Goerold, a senior right-handed pitcher, joined a select group of student-athletes on Tuesday when he was named to the second-team of the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Kinney was an offensive force for the Green and Gold, and the junior third baseman was recognized as an ABCA/Rawlings New York State Regional All-Star.

Goerold, who was also named to the Liberty League All-Tournament Team and a conference Honorable Mention All-Star, graduated this May with a 3.99 grade point average in financial information analysis and will be moving on to graduate school in Virginia this fall. This season he posted a 5-3 record with a 3.22 earned run average. Clarkson's all-time leader in innings pitched with 222, he also ranks in the top five all-time at Clarkson in victories (16), shutouts (3), and complete games (15). Goerold was also named to the CoSIDA National Baseball College Division Academic All-Star team last season and is a three-time selection to the District I All-Academic team.

Kinney, who was picked to the NYS First-Team, led the Knights in just about every significant offensive category. He was also chosen as Liberty League Player of the

Year and was named Most Outstanding Player at the conference tournament as Clarkson won the 2011 league  championship title. Playing in all 39 games, Kinney batted .403 with a .669 slugging percentage. He produced 62 hits, including six home runs, knocked in 39 RBI and scored 39 runs. Kinney broke the single-season records at Clarkson for doubles (19) and extra-base hits (27).

He was perfect in stolen base percentage (13-for-13, 100), and on the mound, Kinney posted a pair of victories and three more saves in his relief appearances as the Clarkson closer, allowing only two earned runs.

Clarkson closed out the 2011 campaign with a 20-19 overall record, including a 13-11 mark in the Liberty League. In postseason play, the Knights won the Liberty League Tournament Championship with a 2-0 record, and went 1-2 in the NCAA New York Regional.
