Clarkson baseball players Miller and Pirro star for Loveland Blue Jays of Centennial State League

Rising juniors Chris Miller and Dom Pirro of the Clarkson University Baseball team became the latest Golden Knights to stand out in a collegiate summer league as the duo helped the Loveland Blue Jays of the Centennial State League win the championship out in Colorado.

Miller, an outfielder for the Blue Jays, led the team in numerous offensive categories, including hits (37), runs (23), extra-base hits (14), doubles (12), walks (26) and on-base percentage (.538). He also hit .407 overall with a .593 slugging percentage. Pirro performed double duty as a position player and the team's closer, including an impressive performance in the final game of the playoffs where he recorded the game's final five outs via strikeout. Overall, Pirro pitched 15 innings in a relief role, posting a 1.20 earned run average with five saves and 20 strikeouts, allowing just a .096 opponents' batting average. At the dish, he drove in 20 runs (second on the team) and batted .329 with a .506 slugging percentage. Pirro recorded 11 extra-base hits among his 28 safeties and also scored 18 runs.
