In the final non-conference game of the season, the Clarkson University Baseball team defeated neighboring SUNY Canton 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Jack Phillips Stadium.

Clarkson improves to 17-5 on the season while Canton falls to 9-22.

Clarkson did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard. Senior John Coleman led off the bottom of the first with a walk and after stealing second, senior Matt Jenack moved him to third with a groundout. Sophomore Chris Miller's single scored Coleman to make it 1-0. After a groundout by junior Greg Jasek moved Miller to second, freshman Will Coleman singled to score Miller and double the Clarkson lead. They would tack on a third run in the third inning after John Coleman doubled and Jenack singled to score him.

Canton would finally score in the top of the seventh, plating two runs to draw within one. But in the bottom of the seventh, Coleman hit his second double of the game and then two batters later, Miller hit a home run down the right field line, his second long ball of the year and his second and third RBI's of the game. Clarkson would add a sixth and final run in the bottom of the eighth when sophomore Connor Dietrich scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Elliot Martin.

Clarkson threw four pitchers in the nine inning game. Sophomore Jeremy Barber started and pitched five shutout innings, allowing only three hits to go with four strikeouts. Freshman Rory Corcoran pitched the next two innings, giving up two runs on one hit and three walks. Junior Anthony Padrazo and senior Nolan Driscoll each added one inning and both only allowed one hit apiece.

Clarkson will travel to Rochester this weekend to play four games against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 pm and then two more games on Sunday starting at 12:00 noon.
