In a fast-pace, penalty-free game between two archrivals, the Clarkson University Hockey team extended its unbeaten streak over North Country foe St. Lawrence to seven games (5-0-2) with a 2-2 tie before 2,620 fans at Appleton Arena in Canton on Halloween night.

The Golden Knights, who have gone 9-1-2 against the Saints since the 2010-11 campaign, will face off again against St. Lawrence again on Saturday night at Cheel Arena to close out the non-league weekend series.

Clarkson stands at 2-4-2 while St. Lawrence owns a 3-3-1 overall record.

Scoreless through over 35 minutes of play, the teams' offenses came to life combining for three goals late in the second period with the Knights taking a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. The Saints scored first when Brian Ward took advantage of a broken play in the Clarkson end and scored from the slot with 3:27 remaining in the period.

Just 25 seconds later the Knights came right back with their first goal of the game. Freshman defenseman Kelly Summers (Golden Lake, ONT) sent a long pass out of the Clarkson zone to Jeff DiNallo (Aurora, ONT) at center ice. The junior center skated in on the Saints' net and fired a shot in close. St. Lawrence goaltender Kyle Hayton made the initial save, but DiNallo followed up the rebound, knocking in his second goal of the season, 15th career tally and fourth against the Saints at 16:58.

With 53.2 seconds remaining in the stanza, senior Joe Zarbo (Grand Island, NY) put the Green and Gold ahead when his pass across the slot deflected in off a St. Lawrence defender for his fourth goal of the season and fourth goal in his career against the Saints.

Early in the third period Woody Hudson tied the game with St. Lawrence's second tally at 6:13.

Clarkson outshot the Saints 36-29 and held a 4-3 advantage in the five-minute overtime session.

Sophomore goaltender Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA) posted 27 saves, including 10 in the third period.

The last time Clarkson and St. Lawrence played in a game without any penalties was in the 1963 ECAC consolation contest when the Knights won 7-5. Clarkson's last penalty-free game was on February 21, 1997 in a 4-2 win over Harvard at Cheel Arena.
