Bronx, NY – The SUNY Canton bats exploded for 36 runs as the softball team swept a road doubleheader against John Jay College by scores of 21-12 and 15-4 on Saturday. The Roos improve to 3-7, while the Bloodhounds fall to 3-11.
Game 1
Brittany Miner, Valerie Clark and Courtney Hyland all homered as the Roos posted 20 hits and plated 19 runs over the fourth and fifth innings for the 21-12 run-rule win. Clark, Miner and Jaedyn Ossont posted three hits each, while Hyland drove in a game-high four runs. Clark and Desiree Pryce also finished with three RBI each. Miner finished a double short of hitting for the cycle and Pryce recorded a pair of doubles.
Nicole Woodward earned her second win of the season giving up nine earned runs with five strike outs in five innings.
Game 2
SUNY Canton once again finished strong combining for 12 runs in the fourth and fifth innings of a 15-4 win in the second game of the day. Hyland and Clark both went 3-for-3 at the plate with Clark driving in four runs and Hyland adding a pair of RBI. Ossont and Miner posted a pair of hits each and Ossont and Woodward drove in two runs each.
Kelsey White earned her first win of the year giving up two earned runs with one strike out in five innings.
The softball team returns to action on Tuesday when it visits Morrisville State at 3 p.m.
