Canton, NY – Hannah Christiansen (Lake View, NY) scored three goals and added an assist, while Katie Lamica (Malone, NY) posted two goals and dished out an assist as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team won their fourth straight match with a 5-1 victory v. visiting SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos jumped on the board first just 3:18 into the contest as Brittany Pierce (Madrid, NY) made a great individual effort down the right sideline. She centered the ball to a wide open Christiansen who buried her fifth goal in two games for the early lead.

Seven minutes later Delhi had a great scoring opportunity out in front as Megan McKenna took a shot but Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, NY) made a diving defense play making a team save.

The Roos responded with another quality opportunity as Pierce drilled a shot that was saved by Broncos goalkeeper Katie Pardee as it went off her hand and off the right post.

SUNY Canton took a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute when Christiansen played a beautiful through ball up the left side to Aliza Armstrong (Heuvelton, NY). Armstrong delivered a cross in front of goal looking for Katie Lamica (Malone, NY) as she redirected the ball into the back of the net.

The Broncos got on the board with 8:57 left in the opening half. Paris Matteo fed a ball down the right sideline to Katie Mae Humphris. Humprhis dribbled along the right end line and fired a shot on goal from a tough angle beating Kelsi Gilbert (Colton, NY) across the face of goal far post. The Roos led 2-1 at intermission.

Christiansen scored her seventh of the season and sixth in the last two games in the 64th minute to give the Roos a crucial insurance goal. Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, NY) took the ball down the right sideline and delivered a cross to Christiansen at the near post who chested the ball past Pardee for the 3-1 lead.

The junior from Lake View, NY completed the hat trick in the 75th minute off a beautiful through ball from Lamica. Christiansen collected the pass dribbling toward the top of the 18 and placed a shot into the left corner of the net.

With 7:19 remaining Armstrong played a cross into the box where Pardee initially stopped Lamica's shot but she gathered the rebound and put it home for the 5-1 lead.

Gilbert finished the game with five saves, while Pardee made 10 stops for the Broncos. The Roos honored seniors Brittany Pierce, Paige Hart, Caitlin Grimshaw, Aliza Armstrong and Chloe Soloman prior to today's contest.

The women's soccer team puts their four match winning streak on the line when they host Houghton College on Thursday at 5 p.m.
