PITTSBURGH, PA.—Chatham University (9-13-1, 4-11-1 ECAC West) rallied from an early deficit for a 3-1 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (8-14-1, 5-11-1) on Saturday afternoon. Junior assistant captain Sally Mooney (New Albany, Ohio/Wyoming Seminary) scored for the Bears.

Mooney got Potsdam on the board just 1:07 into the contest off an assist from sophomore forward Amanda Peterson (West Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Flyers). The Bears outshot the Cougars 9-5 in the opening stanza, but Chatham made the most of its chances. At 12:28, Cassidy Colhoun evened the score and it remained 1-1 at the break.

Less than three minutes into the second period the Cougars scored the eventual game-winner. At the 2:38 mark, Marissa Janiga fired a shot that Potsdam freshman goalie Brianna Fiddler (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Scanlon Creek) got a piece of, but the puck popped up in the air and down into the goal. McKenzie Haskins closed the scoring at 13:06 with another even-strength marker to make it 3-1.

Potsdam controlled the third period, outshooting Chatham 12-5. However, the Bears couldn't crack Cougar goalie Megan Buchanan who earned her eighth win of the season.

Fiddler finished with 17 saves and Buchanan stopped 26 shots. Potsdam was 0-for-2 on the power play and Chatham was 0-for-3.

The Bears are currently in sixth place, one point ahead of Cortland and two points ahead of both the Cougars and Neumann. The top six make the ECAC West Playoffs.

Potsdam wraps up conference play on Wednesday when it hosts second-ranked Plattsburgh at 7 p.m.
