Chambers scores 20 and Conway records double-double for Roos women's basketball but last second shot earns Delhi 69-67 victory

Canton, NY – Samiaya Salley banked in a fade-away jumper from 12 feet with 0.3 seconds remaining to lift visiting SUNY Delhi to a 69-67 win v. the SUNY Canton women's basketball team on Tuesday evening.

SUNY Delhi (13-8) jumped out to a quick 18-8 lead but the Roos battled back with a 9-2 run to get within three at 20-17 after the first quarter. Canton drew even on their first possession of the second quarter after Randi Conway found Antanasia Chambers for a three-pointer from the left wing.

Canton (9-9), winners of five of its last six, outscored the Broncos 25-18 in the second quarter to take a 42-38 lead into intermission. Chambers led the Roos with 12 points, while Taylor Saltus added eight first-half points. Samiaya Salley led all players with 20 points for Delhi.

Canton trimmed the deficit to two when Sade Rogers found Randi Conway for a layup in transition with 55 seconds remaining and Conway was fouled on the play. She missed the ensuing free throw but Tatiana Laroche pulled down the offensive rebound.

Jasmine Dixon took a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down from the left corner that missed off the back rim. Katie Herba split on a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left and Saltus tied the game at 67 with a layup with nine seconds remaining.

Salley hit a running jumper to her left from 12 feet out off the glass and in to give the Broncos the win.

Chambers paced the Roos with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Sade Rogers added 11 points and four assists. Conway recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to go with four assists. Saltus tallied 10 points, five steals and four assists.

Canton finished with 20 assists on 29 made field goals, while the Broncos shot 43 percent from three-point range. The Roos held the edge in second-chance points (18-8), bench points (18-4) and points in the paint (38-26).

Salley paced Delhi with 26 points, while Kiera Holland (14), Herba (13) and Camryn McDonald (10) also scored in double figures.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Thursday when it visits Johnson State College at 7:30 p.m.
