Bronx, NY – Antanasia Chambers and Billie Rivenburgh combined for 32 points and 17 rebounds on 14-for-27 shooting but the SUNY Canton women's basketball team fell 72-62 on the road at Lehman College in the Coaches v. Cancer Tournament on Thursday.
The Roos (3-6) jumped out to an 18-15 lead after the first quarter behind six points from Chambers. Canton clung to a 34-32 lead at intermission as Chambers and Taylor Saltus combined for 19 points. Lillybeth Garcia led all players with 12 first half points for the Lightning (6-4).
The hosts outscored Canton 22-14 in the third quarter to open up a 54-48 lead heading to the fourth quarter. The Roos trimmed the lead to just one on three separate occasions in the fourth, but Lehman ended the game on a 9-0 run for the 10-point victory.
Chambers paced the Roos with 22 points, eight rebounds and six steals, while Rivenburgh came up just one rebound short of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds hitting five of her seven attempts from the field. Saltus posted 12 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists but a game-high 10 turnovers proved costly.
Garcia led all players with 24 points for the Lightning, while Aliyah Dorsett (21) and Lynda Fields (12) also finished in double figures.
