Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – An overtime goal from Camryn Careccia ended a six-game losing streak by the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team as the Golden Knights got on the winning side of things in the Liberty League with a 1-0 double overtime victory over Bard College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, who had lost four of the six games in their streak by a score of 1-0, improved to 5-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in conference games. Bard dropped to 4-8-1 overall and remained winless in league games (0-6-0). Clarkson will end its season with a three-game home stand against Union College, St. Lawrence University, and Rensselaer.

Clarkson enjoyed three shots in first eight minutes, but two were blocked and the other was denied by the Bard goalkeeper, allowing the Raptors to weather an early storm from the Knights. Bard responded with a run of chances near the midway point of the half, taking four shots in 58 seconds, including one that was denied entrance to the goal by a Clarkson defender. The Knights' best chance of the half may have come off a corner kick from Kendall Cathcart as the header from Hannah Letourneau went wide in the 40th minute.

Bard outshot Clarkson 7-1 in the second half but any hope of momentum in overtime for the Raptors ended in the 94th minute. Bard went from being on the offensive to the defensive at 93:10 when one of its players was whistled for a yellow card and then a red, putting the Raptors down a player. Bard changed tactics in hoping to hold on for a tie, but Clarkson made sure that wouldn't be the case.

Clarkson won possession near midfield as Cathcart sent a ball down the right wing to Giulia Mahoney, who dribbled the ball into the box. Mahoney was able to maintain possession around a Bard defender the Raptors keeper, finding Careccia with a cross in front where she easily tapped the ball in for the victory. It was Careccia's third goal of the season and Mahoney's fifth assists of 2018.

Bard owned an 18-10 advantage in shots, but Clarkson was up 4-2 in corner kick chances. Clarkson's Elyse Green made seven saves for the win and her third solo shutout of the year. Abigail Stanley made four stops in the loss for Bard.
