Four players scored in double digits, including Kalik Parker's game-high 15 points, as Plattsburgh State's men's basketball team defeated St. Lawrence University on Tuesday evening the Burkman Gymnasium by the score of 84-68. The Saints, led by senior Kyle Miller's 14 points, battled throughout the second half but couldn't overcome the depth of the Cardinal bench.
Plattsburgh State improves to 3-1 on the season as Shamoy McIntosh, Chris Manning and John Perez joined Parker in double digits. St. Lawrence, now 0-3, shot 56 % from the floor and outrebounded Plattsburgh 30-27, but was plagued by 20 turnovers and a 16-for-31 mark from the freethrow line.
Sophomore Tell White had 12 points for the Saints, while junior Janpeter Brase added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Cardinals led 69-55 with 7:14 remaining in the second half before the Saints cut the deficit to seven (70-63) on a jumper by junior Al Jones with under 5:00 minutes left. The visitors, however, closed the game on a 14-5 run to earn the 84-68 victory.
The Saints will take on Elmira on Saturday, December 1 in the Burkman Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
