Canne strong in women's final swim meet, Saints finish 10th at States

In her final collegiate meet, senior Elizabeth Canne was the top finisher on the day for the St. Lawrence women's swim and dive team in the closing session of the UNYSCSA Championship meet at Ithaca College. The Saints women finished 10th of 15 teams with 411 points.

Canne closed out her St. Lawrence career with a sixth-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.20 – a nearly two-second improvement on her time from the preliminary trials on Saturday morning.

The other top-10 finish for the Saints on the day came from the foursome of Becca Raab, Heather Foley, Nicole Leinders and Alanna Blackburn, who placed 10th in the 400 free relay, combining for a time of 3:42.40.

Blackburn and fellow sophomore Olivia Rettstatt earned a combined 32 points for the Saints with 11th place finishes in the 100 free and 1650 free, respectively. In the 100, Blackburn finished with a time of 53.97, while Rettstatt clocked in at 18:12.89 in the 1650.

Gabriella Marchetti (21st, 18:36.82) and Caitlin Wiederecht (30th, 19:57.47) also competed in the finals of the 1650 for the Saints.

Junior Courtney Goodrich was the final St. Lawrence swimmer to place in the finals, finishing in 24th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:17.45.
