Babson Park, MA – Following his fourth goal in two games, Kevin Calnan appeared to have given the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team the momentum it needed midway through the second half, but a late offensive burst by Babson College gave the Beavers a 3-1 win over the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 1-1 on the season and will look to bounce back when they take on Utica in the middle of next week. Babson improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Both teams struggled to break through in the first half of play, but Clarkson was able to register four shots in the first 16 minutes of play. Things swung in the favor of the Beavers late in the half as sophomore goalkeeper Ian Roeloffs denied three shots in the final seven minutes.

Clarkson struck first in the second half to break the draw as Calnan scored his fourth goal on the weekend off an assist from Joh Eidem. However, the lead was short lived as the Beavers answered back just two minutes later when Andrew Josephs scored to tie the game up at 1-1. In the 76th minute, the Beavers scored what proved to be the game winner when Jackson Greenspan scored off a pass from Noah Parker on a free kick. Youcef Ziad then tacked on an insurance goal for Babson six minutes later.

Ian Roeloffs tallied eight saves on the day for the Golden Knights, while James Takami stopped four shots for the Beavers. Babson finished with 15-11 edge in shots while Clarkson held a minor 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
