Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – Senior Kevin Calnan broke a personal scoreless streak in a big way on Saturday, leading the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team to a 1-0 win over Bard College.
The Golden Knights evened their record back up at 6-6-1 and moved to 2-3-1 in conference games, while Bard dropped to 3-9-1 and 0-5-1. Clarkson will play its final road game of the season on Wednesday when it heads to Skidmore College.
Clarkson held a significant advantage in shots throughout the contest, including an 8-4 advantage in the first half, but it wasn't until the second half when the Knights came through. Aidan Subra hit a cross to the top of the box to find Calnan, and the senior made a couple moves and hit a shot through traffic to find the back of the net for the first time since the opening weekend of the season, recording his fifth goal of the campaign.
Bard would never truly threaten the Knights after Clarkson took the lead, recording no shots and no corner kicks in the final 30 minutes of the game.
Clarkson finished with a 19-5 edge in shots and an 11-1 margin in corner kick chances. Riley McDonald denied two shots for his second win and second shutout of the season for Clarkson, while Taylor Bond stopped six shots for Bard.
