Cayley Mercer, a standout forward for the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team, was selected by the Buffalo Beauts in the National Women's Hockey League draft on Saturday afternoon.
One of the top offensive players in the country last season as a junior, Mercer put up 50 points in 40 games, scoring 25 goals and 25 assists in helping to lead Clarkson to the NCAA Frozen Four. The Exeter, ONT native was voted the Golden Knights' MVP in 2015-16 along with earning first-team ECAC Hockey All-Star honors. Mercer ranks seventh on Clarkson's all-time scoring list with 116 career points on 52 goals and 64 assists through 119 games.
