Despite snapping a scoreless drought that spanned more than three games, the St. Lawrence women's hockey team dropped a heartbreaking 4-2 decision to Brown in Providence, R.I. Friday night.

The Saints (6-14-1, 5-5-1 ECAC) opened the scoring when senior tri-captain Mel Desrochers found the net just passed the five-minute mark of the first period for her team-leading eighth goal. She was assisted by Sydney Bell and Kailee Heidersbach.

Brown (2-12-4, 1-8-2 ECAC) came out strong after the first intermission and pulled even at 1-1 less than a minute into the middle frame on a Lauren Vella tally. But St. Lawrence junior forward Jessica Hon regained the lead for the Saints at the 8:17 mark of second with assists going to linemates Brooke Webster and Margo Lund.

"We were able to finally get a couple of goals on the board tonight, unfortunately we didn't have enough to come out with the win," Head Coach Chris Wells said.

Brown's Kaitlyn Keon tied the game at two at 14:32 of the second and added the go-ahead goal just 26 seconds into the final period. Janice Yang notched an empty-net goal with five seconds to play in regulation to give the Bears the two goal margin of victory.

Wells credited Bears goaltended Aubree Moore with keeping the Bears in the game, as the Saints outshot the home team 30-23 in the contest.

"Moore made some fantastic saves at key points and Brown scored on two well-executed line rushed to get a few of their goals," he said. "We will get some rest and have to be on our game as we play Yale tomorrow; a much-improved team that's playing well now."

Carmen MacDonald finished with 19 stops for the Saints, who will travel to New Haven, Conn. to face the Bulldogs at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
