POTSDAM, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams were swept Saturday in their meet with College at Brockport. The men fell 195-101 while the women were defeated 193-82.
Sophomore Andres Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./George Washington) and freshman Ben Sitts (Gouverneur, N.Y./Gouverneur) led both teams with an individual and relay win. Rodriguez took the 50 Free with a time of 23.87, while Sitts touched the wall first in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.94). The relay team of Rodriguez, Sitts, senior Ricky Blackburn (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), and junior Jacob Van De Valk (Genoa, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) finished first in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:44.93. Freshman Joshua Parker (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) defeated the competition in the 500 Free for a time of 5:35.87. Junior diver Darien Frederick (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) rounded out the winners when she took first in the 3-meter dive and finished with a score of 254.30.
Potsdam will host the North Country Invitational next weekend. The meet will open on Friday at 4 p.m. and continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
