Worcester, MA – Vance Bridgman (North Pole, AK) netted his second goal of the season in thrilling fashion with just 26 seconds left on the clock to lead the SUNY Canton men's hockey team to a 3-2 win against host Assumption College Friday evening.

The Roos (4-14-2) took control of the game early as Dave Schneider (Indianapolis, IN) found the back of the net for the fifth time this season just 5:18 into the first period. Zach Paisley (Yonkers, NY) assisted the power play score. SUNY Canton would use the extra skater to its advantage again in the second period as Kristian Leach (Indianapolis, IN) beat the opposing goaltender for the sixth time this season off a pass from J.R. Lafferty (Williamstown, NJ) at the 6:45 mark.

The Greyhounds (3-16-2) responded less than a minute later when Mike Heyde beat Roo goaltender Louie Puig (Chicago, IL) to get Assumption within 2-1. Stephen Picard and Paul Amarone earned helpers on the play. Heyde would add his second goal of the game with just 18 seconds left in the period to knot the score at 2-2 after two periods.

After neither team found the back of the net for a majority of the third stanza it was Bridgman who came up huge in the clutch. The sophomore lit the lamp for just the second time this season off passes from Schneider and Leach for the thrilling, 3-2 win.

Puig had a huge game between the pipes for the Roos stopping 44 of the 46 shots he faced. Tyler Stillings turned aside 20 shots for the Greyhounds. SUNY Canton was extremely efficient on the power play going 2-for-4, while Assumption was 0-for-3 with the skater advantage.

These two teams will have a rematch Saturday in Worcester, MA with the puck dropping at 4:35 p.m.
