Vassar's Chloe Wheeler scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute to give her team a 3-2 double-overtime win over St. Lawrence University on Friday evening. The Brewers improved to 6-3 (1-1 Liberty League), while the Saints moved to 5-2 (0-1-1 Liberty League).

"It was a tough result for us," said St. Lawrence head coach Franco Bari. "Although we had a slow start, we moved the ball extremely well at times and generated really good opportunities. I'm proud of the team's effort today and, while the result was certainly not in our favor, it was not a reflection of our performance. We are now looking forward and will focus on preparing for Bard."

The Brewers opened scoring early in the fourth minute, when Kamaria Coley received the ball off a deflected pass, made a run into the top of the box, and slotted the ball past Saints goalkeeper Kelsey West and into the bottom ride side of the net.

Vassar's lead held for 25 minutes, until St. Lawrence senior forward Brooke Hessney took advantage of a deflected cross to tap the ball into the net from six yards out in the 29th minute. Senior Stephanie Sayward made it 2-1 in favor of the Saints in the 63rd minute, as she drove a low, hard shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner on a through-ball from sophomore Mackenzie Collins.

The Brewers found the game-tying goal with just three minutes to play when Ariel Bridges played the ball across the box to midfielder Kelsey Domb, who sent the game into overtime with a shot from 14 yards out.

The game remained tied throughout sudden-death overtime until, with just three minutes left in the match, Kaplan played a through ball to Wheeler, who found open space and shot the ball into the upper left corner of the net from 30 yards out.

Vassar's goalkeeper Ali Higgins had six saves in the win for the Brewers, while West had five saves for the Saints.

The Saints will travel to Annandale-on-Hudson tomorrow to take on Bard in a Liberty League match-up.
